　　纽西兰先驱报“三人行”专栏三位作者上周茶叙，与几天后跟当年“纽西兰华人环保教育基金会”多位创办人聚旧时，我都提起正替不少相熟“汽车旅馆”(Motel)的洋人老闆，翻译好些英文入住需知为中文，以便愈来愈多入住“汽车旅馆”的中国游客以至其他华人住宿者，都能知所遵守。
　　由于语言文化之不同，中国游客在纽西兰面对的问题不少，需要纽西兰人和中国游客双方配合，及早认识与解决。这也是我主动向“汽车旅馆”主人们提出，把英文入住需知翻译中文，敬告中国游客的用心。而以下的中英对照入住守则，原只有5条，经各“汽车旅馆”管理者传阅后，按个别常见问题新增到11条，未来肯定还会依实际情况而添加：
　　1)Please do not place bags or suitcases on beds "but put on luggage racks provided"
　　请勿将行李箱放在床上,应放在提供的行李架上.
　　2)Spare towels in cupboard in bathroom.
　　备用沐浴毛巾在浴室抽柜内。
　　3)For hygiene reasons please sleep between thes heets.
　　保障个人卫生，请睡在被袋内而非被子下。
　　4)Electric(kettle) is for boiling water only.
　　电热水瓶只用来烧开水，不可煮食。
　　5)when cooking in units--all outsidedoors to be opened.
　　煮食时必须将门窗打开，保持空气流通和避免触动警鐘。
　　6)please do not cook any offensive food,fish,seafood or curry etc. an extra charge maybe made if the room can not be sold because of odourus smells.
　　请勿烹煮鱼,海鲜,咖哩等食品,如房间因恶臭不能租出,必须按价赔偿。
　　7)Please do not put china cups,dishes,cutlery or pans away in cupboards when wet.(use tea towels and dish cloth provided)
　　请勿将清洁后未乾透的厨具放回柜内。(请用附上的毛巾清洁)。
　　8)Strictly No Smoking anywhere in units or bathrooms,use ashtrays outside and closedoors while smoking!
　　户内及浴室严禁吸菸,请用户外的菸灰盅,并在户外吸菸时关上门窗。
　　9)Do Not Spit (use toilet and flush)，New Zealanders finds pitting very offensive and disgusting(it also spreads disease and virus's)!
　　请勿吐痰,新西兰人极厌恶随地吐痰,且会传播细菌,病毒,事属违法。
　　10)Please seperate rubbish put' clean recycled rubbish (plastic glass,paper cardboard into recycle bin.)All other in general rubbish bin.
　　请将垃圾分类,(塑料,玻璃,纸品放入回收箱,其餘放垃圾桶)。
　　11)Please leave the room as you found it!
　　请保持客房如入住前整齐。
　　以上各点，若不遵守所造成损失，概由住客赔偿。
　　事实上，在此之前，“汽车旅馆”的东主们根本连上述的英文入住守则也没有张贴，原因是本地人绝大多数都深諳并遵守;而在中国游客以外，相信不少已移居纽西兰但未入住过“汽车旅馆”的华人朋友也多有不知。
